Starbreeze appoints board member Juergen Goeldner as interim CEO
Earlier this morning, Starbreeze announced that the Board of Directors have appointed Juergen Goeldner as interim CEO with immediate effect. The company has initiated a recruitment process for a permanent CEO.
With PAYDAY 3 performing below expectations, it is not a huge surprise that the board decided to make a change at the top. Consequently, we considered the news as neutral to the company. Outgoing CEO Tobias Sjögren joined the company in 2021 during a challenging phase of Starbreeze's journey. According to the company, Tobias will be available to Starbreeze for a smooth transition.
Interim CEO Juergen Goeldner has been part of Starbreeze’s board since 2023 and has over 40 years of experience in the gaming industry. His last executive position was as CEO of Focus Home Interactive, a video game developer and publisher based in Paris, France.
